Given all the upheaval this past week, combined with a distinct change in the weather, it feels a lot longer than a week ago that I was attending Burghley Horse Trials with my stand, The Pyjama House. It was the first time back for 2 years, the previous events having been reluctantly cancelled due to Covid, and was all the more special for it.
As in previous years, we had glorious late August, early September sunshine and the equestrianism was sublime. Burghley House looked totally splendid and visitors flocked to watch the dressage, cross-country and show jumping .. and indeed to shop.
Shopping at Burghley for many is their only retail event of the year.. people love to come and have a day out pursuing a sport about which they are passionate and at the same time to stock up on all those countryside essentials: lovely cashmere jumpers, proper wellie boots, a new pair of jodphurs, and of course that all essential pair of cosy brushed cotton pyjamas for the chillier nights of Autumn ahead.
At The Pyjama House we love to get out and have a chance to catch up with loyal customers of old and to meet new ones. It is very welcome feedback to hear people remarking to one another.. “Oh we must stop at The Pyjama House.. they sell the BEST pyjamas ever!”
If you were unable to attend Burghley and you and your family are after a pair of PJs for the winter, or have teenagers just back to school or off to university that need PJ bottoms for the Autumn Term, do please have a look at our website or give me a call.
