Gifts from Fairies Donation
I am very excited to be able to make a small but significant contribultion to the lovely charity Gifts from Fairies run by Emma Shipstone from Newark. I have been in business for nearly 20 years now and almost every time I introduce a new design we sell out completely. However, a couple of years ago I changed the sizing of our XL PJ bottoms and we have just a handful of the old size in a blue flower colourway which might come in use for taller teens of possibly the children’s mums. They are very good quality, warm PJ bottoms and will definitely keep the cold out this winter.

I was brought up, like anyone of my age group, to “make do and mend”. I had a few good clothes and things like pyjamas were always made of strong cottons that would wash and wear well, getting more and more comfortable as they aged and be passed on to younger siblings and even cousins and neighbours once they were grown out of.

No, this blog isn’t to announce The Pyjama House’s new vocation as a weather girl (fun though it looks), but instead to celebrate the seasons and the fact that warm though it is during the day, we need our cosy pyjamas at night!
Pyjama House nightie brings a smile to a Rohingya refuge in Bangladesh
I am lucky enough to have a great friend in Yorkshire who runs the Communications in Bangladesh for UNICEF. He kindly suggested that some our Pyjama House nighties would be very popular with the refugee children that he works with. I received a very humbling message from Mosina thanking me for the nightie that she was given and Ali sent me these wonderful photographs. 100% cotton Nightwear not only feels nicer to wear, it also reduces pollution.
Microfibers are essentially a form of plastic. The huge problem they cause mainly arises from washing clothes and textiles in a washing machine. Notable materials that contain synthetic microfibers, include: acrylic, nylon and polyester.
So do you bit and make sure you buy clothing and nightwear made from 100% cotton or other natural fibres. If you choose cotton pyjamas, you are likely to have the added bonus that sleeping in cotton can promote a good night’s sleep.
Nightshirts and PJ Bottoms for Fathers Day Perhaps??
Fathers Day, I admit, is a bit of an American thing and not always celebrated in the UK, but in the interests of equality perhaps we girls should make the effort! How about spoiling your other half or your dad on June 16th by giving him a gorgeous Egyptian cotton nightshirt. Or, a pair of PJ bottoms perhaps?
Or you could just ignore the whole thing .. but don’t be upset when Mothers Day passes without you receiving so much as a card!!

Having recently taken delivery of our new stock for the year, we organised the usual photo shoot and yet again I found myself borrowing a set of twins to help us with the modelling! So I thought I would do a retrospective blog about the various twins we have used to model pyjamas @thepyjamahouse over the years.

Show time.. Fun at the Royal Highland Show
The Pyjama House has just returned from exhibiting at The Royal Highland Show. It was great to be up in Edinburgh and the weather was kind.Sales were great, particularly on the real “shopping” days, Thursday and Friday, and the atmosphere was properly agricultural.. many of my new customers coming from farms all over Scotland and Northumberland.

Inspired by Chelsea Flower Show
My big gardening treat every year is go to Chelsea Flower Show with my Mum. My mother’s grandfather grew orchids for the Queen and was a long time exhibitor at Chelsea before the war. My family have, as far as I know, never missed a show. It is therefore no surprise that in amongst the signature checked and striped fabrics that I design for The Pyjama House that a floral sprig or two can usually be found.

Build up for Burghley
The Autumn Fair season at The Pyjama House kicks off on 1st September with the inimitable Landrover Burghley Horse Trials. The glorious setting and usually fantastic weather makes for a marvellous equine event and from a retail perspective, the addition of many international competitors and their followers adds to the ambience and makes this one of our best shows of the season.
Summer Holiday fun
The Pyjama House team set off for a week in Croatia earlier this summer and lapped up 30 degree heat and glorious sunshine, blue skies and even bluer sea for a week. We stayed in a villa (see pictured) and I am glad to say the “Pool Man” did his chores (age 10) every morning in a fetching pair of PJ Bottoms.

We have a lot of different spellings in the UK, and one of them is the word “pyjamas” (or “pajamas” if you are in the US).
